Harpo is Oprah backwards!

Hello followers!

I have not written a post in a long while! For good reason! Guess where I am currently employed? HARPO FRICKIN’ STUDIOS! I work at the legendary studio that was the home of The Oprah Winfrey Show (which I was lucky enough to go to a taping during the epic season 25! I got to be in the same room with Barack and Michelle Obama!) and is now the home of The Rosie Show! Which premieres October 10th on OWN (check your loca listings here http://www.oprah.com/rosie/rosie.html)

I work as an office production assistant at the moment (and I say at the moment because working here if you work hard, you get promoted!) going on runs, assistant the producers and helping out inside the studio! I actually get to walk up and down the legendary “Blue Hallway” that hundreds of celebrities have walked on leaving their dressing rooms to go into the studio. I get to literally talk to them and wish them luck before they go on stage. The other day Molly Shannon said hello to me and Henry Winkler touched my shoulder and asked me how I was doing (I grew up watching these people and they are as nice and approachable as I believed!)

I find myself at times, walking backstage peaking through the wings of the stage in total awe of where I am, I have been an Oprah fan for years (having 2 older sisters growing up its hard not too!) and to be in the house she built it’s simply unreal that I am a part of a new chapter, a new legacy that begins officially October 10th!

Of course there are drawbacks to this job. I literally have to do what many people ask, at times it is a little crazy and I feel I am being pulled in a million directions at any given moment, some individuals expect me to pull rabbits out of hats and create miracles that are impossible for a muggle like myself and the hours are at the minimun 12 hours, Monday through Friday which means my social is inexistant; come Saturday and Sunday all I want to do is sit home and watch stuff on my DVR.

But I think the pros out weigh the cons in this situation! I am working on a television show! I am working in the entertainment industry which is my dream (I went to Film school, so this beats working at Starbucks) And because I work for Harpo so many great opportunities and freebies are just given to us. This Saturday for FREE our staff is invited to see Ferris Bueller at Wrigley Field!

I always wanted to work for Harpo Studios and here I am! I am still waiting to meet Oprah, she is like my Carmen Santiago! Once I meet her I think I will finally believe this all reality and I am living my dream instead of just plain dreaming.
